I can  probably write a book about all of the pros of same sex partners adopting children.
I believe that children who are in foster care waiting to be adopted and dream about the day they are welcomed into a loving family feel much concerned about being raised in a heterosexual home vs a homosexual one. I think these children are far more concerned with finally having the opportunity that we all deserve. The feeling of being wanted and someone loving us unconditionally. If there are couples out there who are of good character and great individuals who contribute to society regardless of  their sexual orientation, ready to parent and offer opportunities to unwanted children then who are we to rob those kids of that opportunity. If they pass and meet all the same requirements that a heterosexual couple does they should be able to adopt and not have sexual orientation be something that excludes you from being a parent.Â
As for a case against same sex partners adopting children I guess one could say that a child may feel that by being raised by two women that they would be prone to see men as less than women or vice versa? — I don’t know that this is a strong enough point because I tend to feel the same and not because I was raised in a lesbian household but because I was raised by a single mother. Some may also argue that a child that is raised by a homosexual couple will have homosexual tendencies and see it as the norm… I don’t know that there’s strong or any evidence that supports that theory.Â
Much of my knowledge about adoption comes from documentaries I have watched, I think the real concern should be on whether the person or couple adopting is of good moral character and really wanting to parent, vs using the child for other horrific reasons, for example human trafficking as it happened to many children who became orphans in Haiti, and other countries were massive disasters left them without protection. We should applaud those who really want to make a difference and offer a real opportunity to these children regardless of their sexual preference.
